"It was a crappy day, the only solace it wasn't boiling hot. The old tiller wanted to act up and not start nor stay crunk first. Then the sprayer went out so the areas that needed treatment didn't get treated. It was one thing after another but those were mere inconveniences.
The real money shot lay in the grinding nerves, the numb fingers and thighs. Lack of strength throughout the hips, arms and shoulders. The hard spot over the rear ribs, which was like a dull radiating pain, which came from deep within. At least the pains in the neck had held off, for most of the day. Few hours before dark they too began to creep up. I dreamed of chiropractic. Slowly, I got much slower, till it seemed like a trudge to even move.
Spike kept the whimpering up from the porch all day long. I knew he was hungry but his whining got to nerve inflammation level at about the 3 or 4 hour mark....I finally had to run him into the house. Hopefully the food pantry next week would have something he'd eat, he was so picky. He was down to a couple of cans of Alpo.
What kept me going was the thought of being able to eat something out of the garden in 6-8 weeks. I hoped at least. It was hell putting it in, I pray it would be a blessing, at the very least enough to eat. Now if I could just get Spike liking fresh vegetables......"
