First, Myspace needs to remove all the fancy ads BEFORE you even get into their system.  It draws your attention away before you're even logged in, and YOU CANNOT interact with the ads on the landing page UNTIL you're logged in, then when you do log in those ads are immediately lost.  Might look nice but it's a nonstarter.

Facebook has problems with you adding people and allows you only 5000 friends, this is a serious problem and their "you cannot add this person unless you really know this person" is a bunch of crap.  This is the internet, a "system" doesn't know if you are really you and IF you really know that person to begin with (just what networks and systems/computers you may be using, which all can be spoofed to a large degree).

Myspace should have added video and real time streaming chat rooms (chat rooms maybe they had way back), long ago.  The popularity of things like IRC (ancient and still relative), Stickam and Tinychat make you want to take part.  Walls and streams are rather bland. Plus, having a file library for each user would go along way to adding content and things of interest to make you want to explore and hang around.

Myspace has many more useful features than FB, just their wall/blog feed isn't as inductive, plus you can't search within your friends easily.  For bands still being able to add friends and communicate on MS easily tops FB (FB's "like" feature is useless).....Myspace never fixed their IM, and are now doing some crazy vanilla profile layout enforcement which will only hurt them.  On Myspace you've always been able to do much personalization, which FB has none of.  Should MS add real time chat w/ open group chat plus reopen their customization, they can hold on to the bands at least.  Facebook is a much better name, Myspace is a really bad name, hark ens back to My Computer, My Documents, etc, like the crappy windoze systems.  Facebook stays as it is (and it will probably), something new will blow it away-  think real time chat rooms w/ video, live streaming daily concerts, personalization & better messaging boards (we're working on it, it's called The Underground).

What is really a trip, the old Compuserve and AOL forums had better chat and file library features and to a large degree for things like bands and groups, were much more useful than either the FB or MS systems, yet were never leveraged and of course those systems are dead now basically.

Believe me, add interactive video, live shows (which can be subscribed to, hey think $$$) and a real bbs style messaging board feature, you'd be amazed.  Oh yeah Myspace, remove most of the bandwidth hoggin' ads, they slow your system down, crash browsers and doubtful enough people click them to make them worthwhile. Leave the big bad fancy ads to sections (like live concerts, file libraries, chats) where people might pay attention to them.
