Religion is not the answer, nor is tagging oneself as an Atheist, which makes you a believer, a believer that there is no God, which would make your ideology a type of religion in that your entity is denial.  If you want "proof" of God, the formulas are in science.  Those wonderful formulas and equations didn't appear out of no where, nor were created by man, though he may have found or discovered a few slithers of it here and there.  No, a much more intelligence entity developed that and put it to play in your larger set of systems. While you may deny there exists such an entity, the proof you can see, and live in.  It literally takes no religion, the proof is in front of you and you live in it.  To realize that, takes a positive intelligence, not giving oneself to a "god" or a "lord", nor to a limiting "ideaology"
 which is what true atheism would be, which in effect, as with all ideologues, it doesn't necessarily free you, in some ways it "limits" you.  To just deny it, that God can exist, is just a tad ignorance, or rather, I should say, belligerent posturing. Everyone is welcome to their own Ideas, or lack thereof. Still, you would not exist if it were not for God's creations, which did not come out of "no-where" or just happen.  The SCIENCE that makes you real, did not come from thin air, or a just the Big Bang.  No, bigger things are in effect here.  A religion will not resolve it, nor will not believing because it does not live up to YOUR expectations, nor perhaps answer your rudimentary questions. Honestly, God does not care if you believe it as an entity or deity. If you believe you are more than little animals on a little planet in God's Universe, please by all means, take the reigns and drive. I do not believe those systems humankind has created can do the job.  You might need a little God in there.
