JACK ENDINO - Permanent Fatal Error
Will appear in the January 2006 Underground Sound
Most know him as producer and guitarist from Skin Yard. Permanent Fatal Error will make you remember him as hard rock extraordinaire. From the first big beats and riffs from "Count Me Out" it's pedal to the metal classic heavy metal. As you listen through the album, you can almost take Motorhead, Def Leppard, vintage Gary Moore and maybe all the good grunge bands, combine them, and call it Endino. Saying that, Jack Endino stamps his signature more than once here....Track 3, "Elusive" has a quick current with plenty of stops, starts, good lead jams. At times Jack and special guests take a progressive overtone, other times, like on "Only Way For Me", it is decidedly vintage heavy blues. Endino's voice is one of his strengths, very raspy, but strong. He has invited some great players on this journey, notably Alex Sibbald and Rob Skinner, who together handle most of the bass on the album. There is also undeniable talent of Barrett Martin also graces more than a few tracks here. Title track is a show of just one Jack. Enjoy.
One thing, you'll need to be a fan of the big compress, because as sometimes is the case with producers with access to fabulous compressors, it's a tad much. The layering is nice, and everything is fairly clear, as you would expect from an Endino. As it jams into space, Permanent Fatal Error remains true to the proven playbook, play it loud, and they shall listen. Contact: jackendino.com, www.myspace.com/jackendino
