Of Fate & Chance - Grasp The Open Hand

To be featured in the late summer issue of the Underground Sound webzine
http://undergroundrecords.org/sound/

Powerful music, strong punk vibe, alterna-progressive in a day when it seems it's all been done. Of Fate & Chance are also a metal band, transforming their funk-punk to old school riffing, into a smash up, all within a minute or so in the same song! First full cut "Sweeter Candy" show all colors of the band, set in a moving articulation of delivery, the band kicks ass. Following is "Lies With Substance", the definition of "punk metal", something for the kids, something for thrash heads, killer stuff for all. There's even a hint of straight edge (Alienation Of America), with melody and structure emotive, straight into a rave up to finish the song. You're right back into some heavy stuff with "Graves In The Equator", which could be old school everything. They keep it hard as they blast through "Vain Expectation", touching on classic screamo. For eight full songs Of Fate & Chance give it hell, and it's an enjoyable, fast paced ride. Contact: http://offateandchance.com, band@offateandchance.com, http://www.scorpionrecords.com

Various - 10 Ways To Split Thy Skull

100% dark grindcore underground metal, with true back metal thrown around in places. The CD is for putting on and getting pure fucking evil. Standouts include the rawness of Misery's first four cuts on disc two. They are a band that people usually like the more they listen, because at first it's like so much other minimalist metal, but believe me, this grows on ya. Majority of the pure brutal shit is on disc one (this package contains excellent multimedia and other fan based additives like bios and pictures of the bands), like british black metal gods Detrimentum whos offering "The First Three Circles Of Hell" could not be more torn up. It blasts through like death on parade. Godless give their usual fire breathing performances on their three song contribution, and rarely have I heard them better. Ulcerate are totally thrashed, sounding like a drunken demon orgy. India's MyndSnare provide some of the most enjoyable metal as disc one closes out. Their three songs are strong reminds of metal's past glories from the heydays of the early 80's first speed metal masters, but their blast beat mastery is a sub-genre of its own. From a metal stand point, this double CD set sampler is required, for those times when it absolutely must be fast, dark and deadly. A great selection of killer bands from around the metal underground. Contact: (terminal descent) eternalmindsect@aol.com http://terminaldescent.tripod.com
